Many of Direct Impaqt’s customers use direct mail to reach their customers for a wide variety of reasons. Direct or marketing mail is often used to create awareness about a new product or service, or announce an upcoming event, such as a customer appreciation celebration. Targeting prospective customers by sending them an eye-catching mail piece is often easier than trying to obtain current and correct email addresses.
Direct Impaqt customers also use mail to send monthly billing invoices and account statements to their customers. Typically, both an email and a print and mail process is used to send invoices or statements with a customer receiving a digital or physical document depending upon their indicated preference.
One of Direct Impaqt’s customers, telecommunications company Socket in Columbia, MO, really knows how to use mail to communicate with current and prospective customers. We asked Allie Schomaker, Socket’s Marketing Manager, a few questions about how and why they use mail.
Q: What do you use direct mail for?
A: Socket relies on direct mail both to communicate with our existing customers about billing, account updates, and other announcements, as well as generate new customers for our business and residential services.
Q: Why does Socket use direct mail? Why do you feel it is effective?
A: In the telecom industry, service areas don’t overlap with traditional city or ZIP Code boundaries. And oftentimes, traditional media will reach a much broader audience than the areas we are targeting or even able to serve. Therefore, we’ve found direct mail to be a way to target exactly those homes and businesses that we are able to service. We’ve found it to be an effective way to share information, generate leads, and obtain new customers.
Q: Socket uses both email and postal service mail to send invoices out—do customers like having this choice?
A: Absolutely. Everyone has different preferences when it comes to paying their bills. We like to offer both options to customers to accommodate whatever one they prefer.
Direct Impaqt account managers enjoy learning about our customers’ needs so that they can be a resource as different mailing options are considered and questions arise. Allie summarized her experience with Direct Impaqt account managers by stating, “We’ve found Direct Impaqt to be knowledgeable, responsive, and helpful with our direct mail campaigns. The representatives we work with are always friendly and willing to help us get the best results possible.”
